The Western Europe region of the Global Media Intelligence Report includes poll results from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and UK.

Combined ecommerce sales in Germany, France, the UK, and Spain are nearing $500 billion. Spain is Western Europe’s fastest-growing ecommerce market. Spain will see a 7.5% uptick in ecommerce sales this year—the fastest of any country in the region.

Spain. Games console ownership in Spain led Western Europe at 41.6%. This significantly exceeded the regional average of 37.3% and ranked Spain No. 1 globally. On-demand/streaming adoption in Spain (93.6%) surpassed Western Europe’s average of 91.1%. Similarly, video streaming usage (92.3%) and music/audio streaming (71.4%) both exceeded regional averages.

Zara owner Inditex, in Spain, is diversifying its portfolio, growing its budget-friendly brand Lefties to compete with Shein while also shifting Zara to aim at the higher end of the market. Predictions. Shein, Temu, and AliExpress growth will slow in 2025.

The move, which is expected to be the first stage of a broader rollout across Latin America, comes on the heels of TikTok Shop starting up in Spain and Ireland. The Mexican ecommerce landscape: TikTok Shop is entering a fast-growing market in which we expect four key players—Mercado Libre, Amazon, Walmart, and Liverpool—to account for nearly half (49.1%) of online sales this year.
